I am inspired by issues of violence, chaos, order, and the rhythmic patterns of rituals. My work uses repetition to deal with compulsion and those moments when rational thought is so deeply affected by chaos and disruption as to cause a state of emergency within us. The fragility of life and the illusion of the safety of home are dealt with in relation to the often tragic nature of life.

The images in my work address domestic and social problems such as the plight of women, violence, and kidnapping. I grew up in Colombia surrounded by violent crime and my work has become a reaction to what I witnessed and experienced in my homeland.

In my work I create metaphors with my body, space, and objects.I want to express the pain and suffering that otherwise might be ignored, memorialize and pay homage to all who have suffered and reveal the invisible traces left by their tragedies.
